Naomi Forman, soprano
Naomi Forman Productions
In addition to her work as a musician and singing actor, Naomi began a production company to fill an underserved niche market of short, quirky operas with small casts, featuring professional singers and musicians.
Naomi Forman Productions debuted in 2010 at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, featuring an all-Manitoba cast. The first project was StarBach's: The Coffee Cantata, which received rave reviews (CBC ****) and played to sold-out houses. This mini-opera based on the work of J.S. Bach went on tour to Ottawa, Saskatoon and Brandon, where the project featured a fully-orchestrated production with the Brandon Chamber Players.
This was followed by Menotti's Telephone Opera in 2016, first at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, and a production in Brandon the following year.
A 2020 stage production was underway when Covid-19 stopped the arts world cold. The project is currently scheduled for 2022.
