NAOMI FORMAN soprano
Naomi Forman is a soprano who refuses to be put in a box. Not one to be typecast, her interests range from Bach to Broadway. The Edmonton Sun described her as a singer who could act, and the Winnipeg Free Press hailed her as an actor who could sing!
Performing credits include Manitoba Opera, The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Bach Festival Society, The Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Dry Cold Productions, Brandon Chamber Players, Winnipeg Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Rainbow Stage, Opera NUOVA, and the Opera Project. As a member of the Winnipeg Singers, she was highlighted in Mendelssohn's stunning selection for soprano and choir, O for the wings of a dove on the choir’s O Praise the Lord CD.
As a voice teacher at Brandon University, she is applauded for her innovative and inspirational teaching savvy. She is a member of the Artistic Committee of the Brandon Chamber Players and is a sought-after voice and speech arts adjudicator at music festivals across western Canada.
Naomi recently launched Naomi Forman Productions (NFP), a production company dedicated to "vamping up the music of old dead guys". It debuted at the 2010 Winnipeg Fringe Festival with StarBach's: The Coffee Cantata, an updated version of Bach's Kaffee Kantate for the triple-venti-skinny-soy-frappucino set. StarBach's played to full houses and recieved rave reviews, and was later selected to perform at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival in 2011.
